Why should you stock aromatherapy products?
Description
Aromatherapy is a much talked about and “in” thing for many people – and in this article we will give you reasons for the continuing growth in the market and some actual data as well as some suggestions for how and what to stock!
1.
From 1992 to 1997 aromatherapy sales grew from 5 million to 11.8 million and by 2004 they have grown to £60million with a projected increase of 3% per year.
2.
People are seeking more self medication and as the pressure on the NHS grows many want to try and treat their common ailments without the recourse to the doctor or hospital.
3.
More and more are suffering from stress related conditions and see aromatherapy techniques and products as a way of alleviating these symptoms.
4.
Many young people seek for the “alternative answer to life” in the 21
st
century and are embracing the holistic approach. Alternative therapies and remedies play a part in this approach to life.
5.
Insomnia remedies are amongst the most popular and promoted type of natural products
6.
Extensive research has shown that two thirds of adults have used some form of herbal, homeopathic or aromatherapy product. Over half of them had a positive attitude to alternative remedies.
7.
The common perception of over half of the adult population is that alternative therapies are less likely to have side effects than conventional medicine.
8.
Over 30% of under 35’s have bought oils for burning.
9.
Those in the age group of 55-64 have a very sympathetic approach to alternative medicine with over one third having consulted a homeopathic practitioner.
10.
People in this day are becoming more confident in questioning the health advice which is given by conventional sources and are seeking their own solutions for health problems.
SO HOW DO YOU AS A RETAILER TAP INTO THIS FANTASTIC MARKET WHICH IS STILL GROWING AND MAXIMISE YOUR SALES?
1.
Stock a variety of products. There is no point buying 3 essential oils and 4 massage oils and a couple of body soaks and expecting your sales to be good. Choose a variety of products – we recommend at least 6 titles per range and with essential oils a minimum of 12 types together with some carrier oils.
2.
Decide on your expenditure and if you can only afford £100 spend it on one range and create a good display of this.
3.
Try to afford a stand package for essential oils. The cost is £270 and this gives you a great range of oils as well as a free attractive stand to display them on. This stand converts into £650 worth of sales from a very small area!
4.
You will establish a regular clientele for aromatherapy products who use them and come back to buy more.
5.
Essential oil blends, aromatherapy creams, body soaks and oils have a great feel good element – many of these products are relaxing, uplifting and calming so when people are stressed they can get a pick me up for under £5
6.
Ensure that along with your ranges you display plenty of advertising materials – ask us for FREE point of sale.
7.
Information is key to selling aromatherapy products and with every product we make we offer an information sheet for your staff to read and also to give away to your customers.
8.
Make sure your staff are excited about selling the products – get them to read all the information and buy a decent aromatherapy book for quick reference if they get asked questions.
9.
The RRP on all Regent House aromatherapy products are fantastic – highly competitive and easily affordable.
10.
